ESA seeks new astronauts – applications open 31 March 2021
ESA seeks new astronauts for the first time in 11 years, encouraging women participation as Europe pushes for a new era of space exploration. Applications open 31 March 2021.
While NASA is going strong on all fronts, increasing its presence in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Mars and soon the Moon, ESA has been a little shy for the last decade or so.
Now, the European Space Agency has just announced a new push for its space exploration program with a new batch of recruits to be selected soon.
There will be a virtual press event on Thursday, 16 February where we’ll get to know how many vacancies will open up.
ESA will be accepting applications submitted to their career website from 31st March to 28th May 2021.
Frankly, it’s about time that ESA seeks new astronauts. Let’s see if the old continent keeps up with these new times.

Meanwhile, I can’t wait to see that conference. You can watch the conference at esawebtv.esa.int on the 16th, but you actually have to register at https://www.esa.int/Contact/mediaregistration until 15 February to be able to ask questions.
